Choose One Connected Action

Start with a real situation rather than a complete life overhaul. Notice the parts involved, then choose an action that may help them support each other.

Suggested time: a few minutes to choose; the action itself may take longer. · Any ordinary situation

What you need

A quiet few minutes, a current situation, and something to write on. No account required.

Steps

  1. Name the situation in one sentence. Keep it specific and current.
  2. Notice what you want the action to support, such as mental clarity or a constructive relationship. Then consider what would help: your body, attention, energy, choices or environment.
  3. Choose one feasible action and notice what else it supports.
  4. Do the action if it fits today, or schedule it in a real slot.
  5. Revisit what happened without scoring yourself. What did it support? What did it cost?

An example

Preparing for a meaningful conversation might involve clarifying the intention, allowing time, and choosing a setting where you can listen. A walk taken with that conversation in mind can serve the body and the relationship at once.
